Voting isn’t at your polling place, it's wherever you choose.

As a registered voter you will automatically receive your 2020 Election ballots in your mailbox.

Do you need to register to vote? No problem it's easy! Same Day voting is allowed, if you want to vote by mail register by July 9th...

Note: You will need your current Hawaii drivers license or ID card and
Your social security number to register to vote or check your voter file.

Important Election Dates for the 2020 Primary Election

  • July 9 is the last day to register to vote to receive your mail-in ballot packet for the Primary Election (You can still register and vote "same-day" until August 8th at a Voter Service Center)
  • Your Primary Election Ballot will be delivered to you on July 21, 2020
  • The Primary Election is on August 8, 2020 (Your Ballot must be received by this day by 7:00 pm, a Postmark will not count. - Please allow 3+ days for mailing or take your ballot to a secured Ballot Drop-Box near you. (Map of locations)

Where can you Vote on Big Island?

There are no voting precincts open. There will be two (2) Voter Service Centers open beginning 10 days prior to the election date (Map of locations). 

  1. You can vote from your mailbox, anyplace, or drop in a secured ballot lockbox.
  2. Go to a Voter Service Center in East or West Hawaii. 

Hawai’i Island Secure Ballot Deposit Boxes: There are six (6) secured ballot boxes at locations around Hawaii Island. They will be open 24 hours a day from July 27 through 7 p.m. Sat., August 8 at the following locations:

  • Hilo - Hawaii County Aupuni Building
  • Naalehu Police Station
  • Pahoa Police Station
  • Captain-Cook-Rodney Yano Memorial Hall
  • Kona-West Hawaiʻi Civic Center
  • Waimea Police Station
